One Health is a concept that considers "human health," "animal health," and "environmental health" as one health and protects them in an integrated manner.
In order for us to live healthy lives, the animals that live on our planet, and the planet itself, need to be healthy. This concept is spreading globally, and an international framework has been agreed upon to address the challenges of zoonosis and drug-resistant bacteria based on a one-health approach (cross-disciplinary collaboration among human, animal, and environmental stakeholders).

Why Fukuoka Prefecture is committed to One Health
In 2016, the 2nd World Veterinary Association-World Medical Association International Conference on "One Health" was held in Kitakyushu City. At this conference, the "Fukuoka Declaration" was adopted, which resolved to move from the stage of recognizing the concept of "One Health" to the stage of putting it into practice, and was sent out to the world. Since then, Fukuoka has been working on One Health as the site of the Fukuoka Declaration.
In 2022, the 21st Congress of the Federation of Asian Veterinary Associations (FAVA) was held in Fukuoka City under the theme "One Health Approach from Asia. At this conference, the "Asia One Health Fukuoka Declaration 2022" was adopted, which includes measures against zoonosis, drug-resistant bacteria, and the promotion of global environment conservation to build a society where animals and humans can coexist.

One Health Certification
In September 2022, Fukuoka Prefecture became the first in Japan to establish the "One Health Certification System." This system certifies agricultural, forestry, and fishery products produced and sold in accordance with the One Health principles, ensuring food safety, security, and environmental consideration.
We aim to promote understanding that the practice of One Health will lead to the next generation of food and agriculture, and to promote local production for local consumption by encouraging prefectural residents to choose prefectural agricultural, forestry, and fishery products bearing the certification mark.
