Various events are held in the prefectural government lobby, including exhibitions, sales of prefectural products, and concerts. Currently on display is the Hakata Gion Yamakasa Chiyoryu Kaki-Yamakasa. Hakata Gion Yamakasa, with a history of more than 780 years, is a festival to dedicate Yamakasa to Kushida Shrine, the chief deity of Hakata, and to wish for good health and good fortune. It is an important intangible cultural asset of Japan and is registered as an intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO, Fukuoka Prefecture is proud of this world-class festival. The Kaki-Yamakasa on display at the prefectural office. It is the first time in the long history of Yamakasa that a female doll maker has created the dolls. Yamakasa carrying palanquin will be on display in the 1st floor lobby of the Prefectural Office until March 29, 2024. Fukuoka Yokamon Hiroba, a product and tourism exhibition room located on the top 11 floors of the Fukuoka Prefectural Government Building, collects and disseminates information on various prefectural products and tourism, including traditional crafts and specialty products from the prefecture. In the south wing, there is a Hakata-ori tapestry display corner that reproduces the designs of Fukuoka Prefecture's five major festivals in Hakata-ori, a corner displaying traditional crafts all in one place, and a special exhibition corner introducing the attractions of Fukuoka Prefecture. In the north wing, there is a "Yokamon Café" where you can enjoy meals using prefectural ingredients and a spectacular view from the top floor, a meeting space with furniture made by young craftsmen from the interior design town of Okawa, and a free space where you can relax and enjoy the view of Hakata Bay. In the store, visitors can also purchase traditional handicrafts such as Hakata textile goods and Fukuoka ceramics. In a bright and open space made of prefectural wood, you can enjoy a healthy menu developed jointly with students of the Department of Food and Health at Fukuoka Women's University, as well as a locally produced menus using seasonal ingredients. The restaurant is open to everyone, so please come and indulge yourself in Fukuoka's food.
