Hakata Dontaku Festival🎵

The Hakata Dontaku Festival, will be held on May 3–4, 2026🎉

Celebrating its 65th year, Dontaku traces its roots back to Hakata Matsubayashi, a folk event that began in 1179🪈 Today, it has grown into one of Japan’s largest festivals, attracting more than two million visitors🎶

Throughout Fukuoka City, “Dontaku teams” from across Japan and around the world gather to perform in colorful costumes, bringing energy to the parade✨

Dancers move to the rhythm of drums, flutes, and bells, tapping wooden rice scoops—an iconic Dontaku tradition🎼

You’ll also see marching bands🎺, baton teams, beautifully decorated flower cars🌸, and the grand finale “Sō Odori,” where anyone can join in!
